Extra Swim Meet Information
There are a few items I would like to share about summer league meets that you may find helpful.
Stuart Heights is an 8-lane pool allowing us to swim our alternates in the outside lane. If your swimmer is listed as an alternate, they will not be assigned a lane for this meet, but they should report to the outside lane on our side of the pool. This situation is a quirk of summer league swimming. You would not see this happen in a year-round meet. Don't stress about this. The coaches will help your swimmer get where they need to be if help is required.
Please check if you are on a relay before leaving the meet. Also, if you are on a relay, please check if we have an alternate available before leaving. We know meets can be long. Monday night's meet was long, and we got blown out, but the other swimmers on the relay may not get to swim if you go. Relays are fun. Please think of your teammates.
There is a rule that allows us to "age up" swimmers to fill out a relay. Say we only have three eligible swimmers in the 11-12 girls for a relay, and we have an extra 9-10 girl available. We can swim the 9-10 girl on the 11-12 relay as long as we declare it on the heat sheet. We could not place the 9-10 girl on the 11-12 relay if we had four eligible 11-12 girls. Please check the heat sheet to see you your swimmer was "aged up" on a relay.
