    Dalton Dolphins BIG Update 6/18/25

This is a big update! Please read the information closely. If you are new, this could be overwhelming, but don't hesitate to ask questions! Our Championship meets will be here before we know it. There are several deadlines for you to keep on your radar.

    Dolphins on a Winning Streak

We had another great meet Monday night! We were so proud of how our swimmers competed and supported one another. Thanks to the parents who have been helping us run meets all season! We are now 3-0, the top team in our division. We only have three more dual meets left in the season. Let's keep this going!

No Practices Thursday Evening -Monday Morning

Our coaches will leave for a long-course meet in Huntsville tomorrow afternoon. We will compete Friday through Sunday. Thursday morning will be our last practice until next Monday afternoon.

Dalton Dolphins at Calhoun Thursday, June 26th

Our last away dual meet of the season will be a week from tomorrow. Please register your swimmer by 11:30 PM on Monday! Please try to attend this meet. The more swimmers we have, the better our chances of continuing our win streak! And it's more fun when everyone is there!

Calhoun's pool is outdoor, so plan accordingly.

Warm-ups will begin at 5:30 PM, and Competition will start at 6:00 PM.

    DIRECTIONS

Dalton vs. Chattanooga Golf and Country Club X2

Our last two dual meets of the season will be against Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. Both meets will be at DHS.

Our first meet with them will be on Monday, June 30th. Warm-ups will begin at 5:00 PM, and theCompetition will start at 6:00 PM. Please register your swimmer for that meet by 11:30 PM on Thursday, June 26th.

Our second meet with CGCC will be on Monday, July 7th. This meet is the make-up meet from earlier in the season. There is a rule that we must start from where we stopped in our last meeting with them and use the same line-up. I am trying to get CGCC to agree to use brand new line-ups. I will let you know what we decide. In the meantime, if you were at the rained-out meet, we need you to attend the July 7th meet! Warm-ups will be at 5:00 PM; the Competition will begin at 6:00 PM.

    GRPA District Meet

We finally received the information for the GRPA District Meet. The District Meet is the qualifier for the GRPA State Championships. All swimmers ages 6-18 are eligible to go. If you want your swimmer to attend, enter them by Monday, June 23rd at 11:00 AM. We will not be able to take late entries.

Districts will take place at Cherokee County Aquatic Center (DIRECTIONS) on Saturday, June 28th. Coach Jason is a little sad about the timing of this meet because he won't get to attend the ATL SneakerCon, but he is excited to watch our Dolphins race and qualify for the State Championships. Warm-ups will be at 3:30 PM; the Competition will begin at 4:00 PM.

There are entry fees to attend Districts. The cost is $35 per swimmer. We will charge your account for these entry fees on Wednesday, June 25th. Entry fees will be non-refundable after this date.

    A few things about Districts:

1)The top three overall finishers in each individual event will advance to the State Championships. Each relay event's top three overall finishers will advance to the State Championships.

    2) Please only sign up if you can commit to attending the GRPA State Championships in Columbus, Georgia. It creates many problems if swimmers qualify for the State Championships and do not attend. The State Championship preliminaries will be on Friday, July 25th. If your swimmer places in the top 8 in one of their individual events and/or their relay places in the top 8, they will advance to the finals on Saturday, July 26th.

    3) Swimmers can swim a maximum of three individual and two relay events. We try hard to put swimmers in the best possible events, not only to qualify for the State Championships but to place as high as possible at the State Championships. Relays largely depend on how many swimmers in a given age group attend. We will build the fastest possible relays with the available swimmers.

    4) If you have not previously attended the GRPA District meet with us, we need a copy of your swimmer's birth certificate by Monday morning. You may email a scan of the certificate.

    City Meet

We are 23 days away from the City Meet, our league Championship, which is on par with the World Championships. If you ever talk to our alums, they will always talk about how important City Meet was to them. It's a big deal, and you need to go!

City Meet will take place at the Fort Oglethorpe Pool in Gilbert-Stephenson Park (Directions) on Friday, July 11th, and Saturday, July 12th.

All swimmers ages 6-18 who have competed in two dual meets are eligible to go. If you want your swimmer to attend, enter them by Monday, June 23rd at 11:00 AM.

Entry fees to the City Meet are $40 per swimmer. We will charge your account for these entry fees on Tuesday, July 1st. Entry fees are non-refundable after this date.

The GRPA State championships will take place at Columbus Aquatic Center in Columbus, GA. (DIRECTIONS)

Preliminaries for all age groups will be held on Friday, July 25th, and finals for all age groups will be held on Saturday, July 26th26.

The state Championships require entry fees, which are $35 per swimmer. We will charge your account for these entry fees on Tuesday, July 15th. Entry fees are non-refundable after this date.

We do not have the warm-up schedule yet, but we can anticipate warm-ups starting around 7:30 AM on both days. As soon as we receive it, we will send it to you. The Competition will begin at 9:00 on both days.

The Top 8 finishers in each individual event and relay event will advance to the Finals on Saturday.

*The one exception is if an event has eight entries or fewer. That event will be a timed final on Friday, and the swimmers will not swim it on Saturday. When the psych sheet comes out, I can tell you whether your swimmer's event falls into this category.

1st Annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast

Coach Jason has wanted to start this tradition for several years, but we haven't had the facilities to make this happen. We can finally do it! Bullets and Seniors will practice at DHS from 7-9, and then all groups can join us at 9 AM for the Pancake Breakfast! It's going to be a great way to start the holiday weekend. If we have any chefs with griddles who want to help flip some flapjacks and cook up some other dishes, please let Jason know. We will post our food and drink needs early next week.

There will be a couple of contests that will include our swim families! We will have a Family Floaty Relay: two adults, two swimmers, one floaty, and race 100 yards. We will also have a cannonball contest. We hope to see all of you there!
